The workshop
Building a marine vessel as a scale model is an exciting and instructive process. Often the research for correct details brings you to surprising discoveries in the National Archives... The story - and history - behind the single ship is often even more dramatic and affecting than you can imagine! The ship and its fate becomes present as the building process procedes.
My name is Peter Lomholt Maack. I've been building historic scale models for The Royal Danish Naval Museum in Copenhagen for 18 years. I care for historicly correct details - any model should realisticly reflect construction-, rigging- and ornamentation methods true to the actual ship.
On the following pages you can see examples of this "philosophy" in some of the historic models of danish naval ships as I've build them.
